WonHundred Word Wednesdays

There was a strange wailing sound coming from the next room. She buried her head under her pillow, hoping to drown it out.

When it didn’t stop, she sat up, angry. It had to follow her here. She’d tried to get it to stay in its own colony, but it refused to listen. It had purred in her arms all the way home.

She climbed out of bed and made sure no one else was awake before sneaking into the room adjoining hers. She knelt and picked the dragon up, hoping it would quiet its wail before anyone heard it.

  1. Dragon for the win! The line about it purring all the way home almost seems to contradict her protests she tried to convince it to stay where it belonged. Not that I could blame her for wanting a pet dragon.

  2. Yay! Dragons mentioned again. And with it purring, I'm really curious to know what kind of dragon it is. Fun prompt
