WonHundred Word Wednesdays

Reluctantly he handed over the key. This car had been his baby since he’d bought it in high school. He’d restored it to its former glory and it had been the envy of the town. But he’d just graduated med school and needed the money to pay off his bills. He’d be able to buy it back later, right? The man in the dark tweed suit smiled reassuringly as he took the key, waved, and walked toward the car. He heard the familiar rev of the engine as the man pulled away. He turned away, wanting just one more ride.

Now go check out the others!

All Kinds of Awesomeness

This is going to be one fun weekend! Tomorrow I celebrate the launch of The Princess and The Prom Queen. It's been out since the end of April but I'm launching the paperbacks along with the other authors from Trifecta books. It's going to be tons of fun!

I was hoping to have Best of Luck by then, but sadly they didn't get here in time. They will still be available for preorder so I can send them out when they get here. So sign up! I will also have an email list for those that buy the book so they can get the ebook of my novella, Just My Luck.

My leprechaun books will be $12 each or the set for $30.

To go with my leprechaun book, my amazing sister drew me some of the creatures from Best of Luck. She's amazing! Here they are:

Isn't she fantastic??? I'll have copies of these prints at the launch tomorrow. Hope to see you there!

Torn Canvas by Donna K Weaver

I'm excited to be a part of this blog tour. I loved Donna's A Change of Plans, so I was very happy to have a chance to read Torn Canvas. Don't forget to enter the contest at the bottom of the post!

Here is the synopsis:

Modern-day pirates took more than Jori Virtanen’s friends; they stole his face. Not only does the twenty-four-year-old former model have to confront months of reconstructive surgery, he discovers his previous life was as superficial as his looks.

Jori struggles to make a new life for himself as an artist while evading the press. They expect a hero, but he knows the truth. His beauty masks a beast.

Olivia Howard’s given up a normal life for her job, and the sacrifices are finally paying off. The twenty-six-year-old talk-show host’s ratings are heading to the top of the charts. Her dream is to make a difference in people’s lives, but the studio wants mind fluff—like interviewing hot model Jori Virtanen.

When Olivia learns the guy helped rescue passengers on a cruise excursion from kidnappers, she knows this is the story she needs to make her case. The only problem is the hero was injured, and now he’s disappeared.

The more Olivia learns about the man behind the scar, the more intrigued she becomes. But Jori is no girl’s happily ever after. Once she finds him, Olivia has to free his heart and heal the beast.

I couldn't stop reading. Jori was a character in A Change of Plans that I couldn't decide at first if I liked or thought was a jerk. He was a lady's man and that bugged me, but he redeemed himself and showed how caring he really was.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Torn Canvas was written in his point of view and I got to know who the man really was—and he is amazing. He had secrets in his past that he didn't share with anyone. It was emotionally exhausting as I grieved with him and I wanted so much for him to succeed.

I adored Olivia. I wanted so much for them to meet and I groaned with every near miss. She's a strong woman that knows what she wants—and Jori has caught her attention.

I laughed,  bawled, and cheered for each of the characters in this book, begging for the happy ending each of them deserved.

While this book has content that is a little much for some readers (learning to deal with past abuse), it was beautifully and tastefully done. I highly recommend this book of love, loss, and redemption.

Donna K. Weaver is a Navy brat who joined the Army and has lived in Asia and Europe. Because she sailed the Pacific three times as a child, she loves cruising and wishes she could accrue enough vacation time to do more of it with her husband.

Donna and her husband have six children and eight grandchildren who live all over the world.

At fifty, Donna decided to study karate and earned her black belt in Shorei Kempo.

After recording city council minutes for twenty years, Donna decided to write something a little longer and with a lot more emotion--and kissing.

WonHundred Word Wednesdays

My heart pounded wildly as I stared out from my hiding place. I thought I’d gotten away with it. I hadn’t wanted to steal the bread, but I was hungry. Always hungry. They had taken everything from me. I had once had a beautiful family, but they came and escorted them away. Next they’d taken my belongings. All of them. They thought. But I wouldn’t back down. I wasn’t going to give them what they wanted most. Instead, I would stay in hiding until it was too late for them. The lights finally left. I sat down to eat, smiling.

Now go and see what everyone else wrote!

WonHundred Word Wednesdays

It's that time again! I hope you enjoy.

He hadn't seen anything like it in twenty years of teaching. His student had answered every single answer correctly. Every one. He prided himself in his tough answers and felt a thrill writing Ds and Fs as he graded the tests. But here came this student. This maddeningly brilliant student who took the questions and not only answered them correctly, but managed to find inconsistencies in the answers. It was maddening. But that wasn’t the worst of it. This student of his wasn’t your average college student. No, beating all odds, this genius grad student was only five years old.

Now go see what everyone else did!

WonHundred Word Wednesdays

Here we go! I liked this one.

In all the years I've lived here, I never once called this place my home. I’d told my dad I wanted to leave, but he would just smile and continue on with his work. No one in the village was a friend to me. I had to turn to books to escape the constant torture in living among people I didn’t relate to. But I would get out one day. I knew of a castle where a beast lived. I felt I belonged there. I only had to convince him to fall in love with me so I could leave.

Now check the others out!

I fell in love with this cover as soon as I saw it. It was bright, it had a dragon, and a castle. What more could I want?

I hope you enjoy the series as much I have enjoyed writing it!
