Wonhundred Wednesdays

A few of my author friends and I are going to do “WonHundred Word Wednesdays.” Each week we will be given a prompt. We will write a 100 word story based on that prompt and post it.  Then we will link to the other blogs doing it too so that everyone can see what kind of range can happen — even in a small group — based on one simple idea.

This week's prompt:

"You are on a crowded subway platform when you see a

familiar face"

My story:

He was here. I licked my lips nervously. I had waited months for this. I pulled out the mirror from my purse and checked my makeup again. Not that it mattered. He would be happy to see me no matter what. His clothes were pressed, but they were worn. We would have to get him some new ones. I smiled, happy knowing that there would plenty of time for that, now. I bent down and adjusted Billy’s coat.

“Mama, what are we doing here? I want to go home.”

“Me too, sweetie. But first we must say hello to Daddy.”

Check out the other great stories! And come back next Wednesday for the next prompt.

  6. Love this idea! I did it too. Here's Mine: (This is Whitney, by the way)

What do I do? Stand here and pretend I didn’t see him? There’s enough people taking up the airless space that maybe he didn’t see me either. Our last encounter was not happy and had little resolution. I could hear my heart and I’m sure the person next to me could see it beating--all the emotions from two years ago flooding through my veins. Then I did it.
Holding my breath, and bumping my way through those waiting to be on time, I walked to a spot near him. Maybe he would see me first and start the conversation.

    1. so fun Whitney, glad you added that one. Can totally see myself doing the same thing and hoping he'd be the one to talk first.
