Lisa ducked and hurried away, wiping a tear. His voice had never sounded so cold as he ordered her to leave his home. The insults he threw at her were worse than physical blows.
She hadn’t meant to break the glass vase, but the fact that she’d been fired was heartless. It was Christmas after all. She needed the money to buy presents for her family. They’d have to deal with homemade gifts again, but they always found a way to be happy.
No, she wouldn’t focus on the hatred in his eyes. She never wanted that job anyway.
